The company is named after the Italian cowboys, the butteri, who roamed the hills in our region Tuscany. But we are a modern brand. Founded in 1974 by Mauro Sani, who set out to make the best riding boots in the world, Buttero remains owned and run by the Sani family, three generations working together.
INSPIRED BY HERITAGE, NOT DICTATED BY IT.
CRAFT IS AT THE HEART OF WHAT WE DO.
Keeping alive the traditions of Tuscan shoemaking is the core of the business. Our shoes are made by expert artisans who are the best at what they do. We proudly preserved our handmade crafting process from the very beginning.
We hope that you' be wearing your Butteros all day, every day, season after season - we use the best local vegetable-tanned leathers, which age beautifully.
QUALITY MEANS DOING IT RIGHT.
FAMILY IS EVERYTHING.
Buttero is owned by the Sani family, now run by founder Mauro's children and grandchildren. Growing up, the first word spoken by Mauro's son Massimiliano, after "mum" and "dad", was "Buttero". It's in the blood.
